Extensions: Overview
Extensions connect Luma directly to your existing cloud apps like Google Drive, Dropbox, Frame.io, Box, and Airtable. Instead of manually downloading, re uploading, and copy pasting files between browser tabs, Luma pulls assets directly onto your canvas and saves completed work back to your storage.
The Read and Add Principle (Core Safety Rule)
Luma operates on a strict non destructive access model. The Agent can import, read, create, and save files, but it lacks the technical ability to delete or overwrite your data.
What Luma CAN Do:
Find and read your files.
Pull media and documents onto the canvas.
Save completed images, video, and text back to your cloud account.
Create or update database records in Airtable.
What Luma CANNOT Do:
Delete your files or records.
Rename your files.
Overwrite existing files.
App Specific Capabilities & Limits
1. Google Drive
Best for: Working with specific Docs, Sheets, Slides, or individual media files.
Key Feature: High security narrow permissions. Luma only sees files you explicitly choose using the Google file picker (plus new files Luma creates).
Common Issue: If Luma cannot find a file, it usually means you have not selected it in the picker yet. Pick the file rather than reconnecting the app.
2. Dropbox
Best for: Deep file name searches across your entire account.
Key Feature: Strongest search capabilities among all extensions. Same name file exports are automatically renamed rather than overwritten.
Limit: Free Dropbox plans do not support searching inside file content.
3. Frame.io
Best for: Importing video cuts and reviewing timecoded feedback.
Key Feature: Reads exact timecoded comments and version stacks. Allows seamless video upload and download for creative reviews.
Limits: No text search (navigate via folder structures). Freshly uploaded video may take a moment to finish transcoding.
4. Box
Best for: Enterprise folder storage and large uploads.
Key Feature: Handles large, chunked file transfers over 50 MB. Uses short lived security tokens with built in read and add protection enforced directly by Box.
Limit: Browse based navigation only (no global text search).
5. Airtable
Best for: Production databases, asset trackers, and structured lists.
Key Feature: Reads table schemas and updates or creates up to 10 records per operation. Downloads and uploads record attachments directly.
Limits: Maximum of 100 rows returned per request. Cannot delete records.
Account & Connection Management
OAuth Sign In: Connecting redirects you to the provider's official login window. Luma never sees or stores your passwords.
Personal & Team Isolated: Connections belong to your individual account and team workspace. Teammates cannot see your files, and connections do not transfer across different Luma teams.
Admin Controls: All extensions are disabled by default until an Enterprise or Team Admin enables them.
Pause vs. Disconnect:
Pause: Temporarily hides the tool from the Agent without logging out. Resume anytime without re entering credentials.
Disconnect: Revokes Luma's authorization entirely and removes account access.
