Nano Banana 2 lite: FAQ
1. What is Nano Banana 2 Lite?
Nano Banana 2 Lite (Gemini 3.1 Flash-Lite) is the fastest, cheapest image tier in the Nano Banana family, running at roughly half the cost of Nano Banana 2. It's built for drafts, iteration, and cost-sensitive batches, and handles both creating new images and editing existing ones.
2. What resolution does Nano Banana 2 Lite support?
1K only
For 512, 2K, or 4K, step up to Nano Banana 2.
3. What aspect ratios are available?
All 14, same as Nano Banana 2.
Standard: 21:9, 16:9, 4:3, 3:2, 5:4, 1:1, 4:5, 2:3, 3:4, 9:16
Extreme: 4:1, 1:4, 8:1, 1:8 (for banners and panoramas)
(On edits, the input aspect ratio is preserved.)
4. Can you use reference images?
Yes. Up to 14 reference images for style or content guidance (on edits: 1 source plus up to 13 references). When using two or more, label each image's role in the prompt (style, character, pose, or composition reference).
5. What controls does Nano Banana 2 Lite offer?
Thinking level: minimal (default, fastest) or high (better on complex compositions and multi-element edits, but slower). Note this is a reduced set compared to Nano Banana 2, which also has low and medium.
Temperature: 0.0 to 2.0 (default 0.5). Lower for consistency, higher for variety.
Search grounding: optionally generate or edit images informed by real-time web data (weather, charts, current events).

No. It does not output transparent backgrounds. For transparent (RGBA) cutouts, use a model that supports it, such as GPT Image 1.5.

Lite vs Nano Banana 2
Lite is about half the cost and the fastest option, but caps at 1K and offers only minimal / high thinking. Move to Nano Banana 2 when you need 512 / 2K / 4K output or the finer low / medium thinking levels.
